It’s that time of the year, the moment were every band goes to one festival or another and skips the major cities. Therefore, this list will be very limited to say the least, and might not even qualify as a list.
The only notable metal show of the week is on Sunday with Coffins. The Japanese doom death merchants are back in Europe, like almost every year, with a new release, like almost every year. This time it’s a collection of tracks found on splits, such as the one with Noothgrush or with Hooded Menace, and some live cuts. The compilation is already streaming on Spotify and some of the tracks can be found on bandcamp too. No surprises here, if you like the band, you won’t be surprised by anything. Considering that they are a very solid live band and that the show will take place at the Underworld, an always reliable place for quality shows, there is no reason to skip this one.

For some metal, you will have to go to a hardcore show. Now signed to Metal Blade, Twitching Tongues are on the right track to gain some more recognition but in Paris they will still play at La Mécanique Ondulatoire, like the last time when they were touring with Harm’s Way. Opening for them will be the most metal band of the night, and of the week, Disgrace, a mish mash of Sepultura riffs put together with very little song writing, but some impressive technical chops. It doesn’t sound great on paper but it actually be quite entertaining live. Of course, the always reliable Lodges will be there too which means that you will have to show up on time to enjoy some new songs and some more well known tunes.
